Tour Stage Seven: Keeping His Cool

The old man of the peloton, Jens Voigt was in the first successful break away of the day along with Blel Kadri, they eventually got over 5 minutes on the peloton but then the chase ran them down rather quickly.  There was a lot of strategy going on in the peloton so Kadri loaded up on bottles and sat up when the peloton got close, Voigt gave it one more dig and then he too was sucked up by the Cannondale led group.  The motorcycle all in yellow is a hold over tradition of the Tour, where the time splits are written on a chalkboard (yes it is still chalk on slate) that is then showed to each group on the road.  And yes, Jens is pouring water over his head in an effort to keep cool (a little different weather than the Giro d'Italia).  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard and like all of the work on this blog project, has been created using cake watercolors, brushes and paper from www.richesonart.com   They make excellent art supplies that I have been using for decades.  In addition this work is available at my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.  Come on, how many more Tours will Jens be able to race?
