Mark Cavendish hit the ground on one of the many traffic circles on the roads of France, while beautifully planted and great for controlling traffic, they are not so good for a peloton at full race speed. Omega Pharma Quickstep sent Peter Velits back to help pace Mark back into the peloton. On their right is the first car in the caravan, the race director and on his left a long line of the Gendarmes. The tall figure in black is one of the amazing TV cameramen standing on the back of a motorcycle with a broadcast video camera on his shoulder. As soon as they reached the peloton, both riders quickly road up the right side of the speeding cyclist to get back to the business end of the race. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that is available by visiting my artist website. Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.
