Tour Stage Six: Lanterne Rouge

Lanterne Rouge, or Red Lantern, is the title given to the last rider in the race, a reference to the red light on the end of a train.  Nacer Bouhanni was the first rider to crash within sight of the finish line and ended up with half of the peloton falling over him as he layed on the tarmack.  Try has he might today he couldn't hang on the only climb or catch back on to the tail end of the peloton.  Even the broom wagon is leaving him behind.  About a half hour later, he faced certain elimination on time and saw no point in continuing the suffering and he became the sixth rider to abandon the race.  Another of the young riders to have their heart broken by the harsh mistress that is the Tour.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard that is available at my artist website.  Just follow the direct link at the end of this post to get your piece of the 100th Tour de France.
