The Australian, Mick Rodgers (Tinkoff Saxo) was able to do what no one has pulled off yet in this Giro, the solo victory. Surprisingly, he got away on the final descent of the day and held of the reduced peloton to take the first stage victory for his team and continue the Aussie show of strength. It was an Australian team that one Stage 1, then it was an Australian on an Australian team that held the Maglia Rosa for 7 more stages, only to surrender the Jersey to yet another Australian. And now it was another Australian who took the victory into Savona. Perhaps this should be renames the Giro d'Australia. This is an original watercolor and ink postcard measuring 4"x6" and is available for purchase through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.
