Giro d'Italia Stage 12: Down Shifting

Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia was the first of two Individual Time Trials, a race where each rider goes alone against the clock.  The stage winner is the one who covers the course in the shortest amount of time.  While all of the riders cover the same section of roadway, there is no control over changing weather conditions.  It was raining hard when Thomas De Gendt (OPQS) became the new race leader moving into first place of all of the riders who had finished before him by five seconds.  The time trialists are followed by their team cars with their Director Sportives yelling time breaks and encouragements either through a loudspeaker or into the radio in their ear.  This is an original watercolor and ink postcard (4"x6") that was created using Yarka St.Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.richesonart.com  Also, this painting is available for purchase through my artist website at www.greigleach.com.  Or you could just follow the direct link at the end of this post.
