The break away was the first to hit the final (and only) climb and Adam Hansen (Lotto-Belisol) was the first to jump away from his companions and start the assault of the Montecampione. The lower slopes were filled with aggressive moves, but nothing like what was to come from hopefuls and GC contenders alike.
