To explain, Brittany Bowe (USA) gave away her opportunity to come to theses Olympics so that her friend Erin Jackson would have a chance to skate in Beijing. First something happened (and I don't know what it was), and she was able to make the trip to compete as well. Then in her 500 M race, Erin Jackson won the Gold Medal. And now tonight, Bowe skated her way onto the podium with a Bronze Medal in the 1000 M. I'm not saying that karma made her win third, she did that with her own legs. But, it didn't hurt.
