I would love to know what Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Victorious) and Wout Van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) were taking about. Colbrelli, the European Champion, was the only one in this five man break that didn't have a teammate. Van Aert had Tiesj Benoot to work on his behalf. At the front of the group were the Ineos-Grenadiers duo of Jhonatan Narvaez and Tom Pidcock. Clearly it is an advantage to have a teammate in the break with you. Colbrelli will have to chase any attacks whereas the others can share the duties of keeping other escapees in check.
