The Tour de France (or most any bike race) can be a very cruel mistress. It just takes a moment of inattention, a random chance encounter with a fan (or a fan's dog) and your Tour can be over. Today was a rough day for the team of the race leader, Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma). The day started out with the announcement of the withdrawal of their original team leader Priomz Roglic. He would be missed as a very strong support rider for the current Maillot Jaune. Later in the stage it was Steven Kruijswijk going down in a three bike crash and breaking his collarbone. That clearly meant that he left the stage in an ambulance, and with that left the Tour as well. Not even twenty kilometers later, it was Christophe Laporte and the yellow clad Jonas Vingegaard going down in a small down along the course. Both were able to get back underway but it was just a vivid example of just how quickly one's Tour can be over, even for the guy leading the race.
This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The painting was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.Richesonart.com. The work sells for $90 USD including shipping, and yes, international shipping is available.
