Tour '22, Stage 12: Watching, Carefully

Once each GC hopeful was out of teammates on the Alpe d'Huez, it was Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) attacked, as expected.  But Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) was up to the challenge, twice.  So once he was back on the front he kept a very close eye on the Maillot Blanc.  As I painted this I thought Geraint Thomas (Ineos-Grenadiers) was about to attack next.  I do paint these without knowing what is going to happen next.  I was wrong.  The Welschman had clawed his way back each time one of these attacks went, so he may well have not had the legs to launch one of his own.  So as they came to the line, Pogacar tried one more time, and yet again, he couldn't get away from Vingegaard.  Without any time bonuses left on offer, the GC stays the same as you see here.

What will happen when we get to the Pyrennes?

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The painting was created using Yarka St. Petersburg watercolors and Steve Quiller brushes from www.Richesonart.com. The work sells for $90 USD including shipping, and yes, international shipping is available.
