Tour '24, Stage 15: Tadej Answers

Most likely, this is the moment that the 111th Tour de France was won.  And perhaps will have the same mystique as the moment Lance Armstrong look back into the eyes of Jan Ullrich before dropping him on a climb.  Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) had set a brutal pace on the way up to the Plateau de Beille in hopes of gaining time on the Maillot Jaune of Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates).  As the pair hit a steep section at five kilometers to go, Vingegaard stood up to make another effort to lose Pogacar.  He didn't succeed.  Once he got back on the saddle, he looked back at Pogacar.  Tadej knew at that moment the Dane was cooked from his efforts on the day.  So, he made his classic attack on the steepest road he could find.  Vingegaard had no answer.  He ended up losing sixty-eight seconds to Pogacar and most likely the Tour.

This is a small 4x6 inch original watercolor painting that is available through my website at greigleach.com or you can simply follow the direct link at the end of the post to purchase the painting above. Since it is an original work of art, it is a first come first served reality. The work sells for $95 USD including shipping, but, yes, international shipping is both available and extra.
