Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) uses another section of deep fresh gravel to attack again. His move is first cover by Jonas Vingegaard's (Visma-Lease a Bike) teammate Christophe Laporte. Unfortunately, Vingegaard wasn't able to hold the wheels, so the American Matteo Jorgenson another teammate covered Pogacar, and let Laporte bring their team leader back to the wheel of the Maillot Jaune. Visma-Lease a Bike had looked weak when Pogacar claimed the Yellow Jersey back on the Col du Galibier. But today, Pogacar was certainly still strong, but his team came up short today.
It should be noted that Vingegaard has been riding on his teammate's (Jan Tratnik) bike for about 70 kilometers now. With the race so spread out and the near continual attacks of Pogacar, there was no way he could go back and get his spare bike. According to the commentators, Tratnik and Vingegaard have their seats at the same height.
